“We are excited to be able to provide this program which lifts up women in our community through the creative endeavor of putting on a show, while at the same time raising money for two very worthy causes,” says Barbara Yokom, Co-Founder of artful IMPACT! “We find that these cabaret experiences allow participants to experience the uplifting power of arts, bond with friends new and old over one weekly rehearsal and a weekend performance. We hope women will gather their neighbors, friends, church and club friends and sign on together to make a difference.”
Artful IMPACT! has produced Cabarets for a Cause benefitting Silent Samaritans, The Global Infant Project, DuPage Senior Citizen’s Council Meals on Wheels, and Edward Heart Hospital. Co-Founder Deb Newman has performed in two previous Cabarets. “You discover new things about yourself, grow your artistic voice individually and in an ensemble, while helping raise funds for local and global charitable causes,” she says. “Whether you did high school shows, sang in choir or never set foot on a stage before, no extraordinary skills are needed. The creative team really puts you in your best light, and it’s a blast!”
Watch for news on future Cabarets for a Cause endeavors!
Cabarets for a Cause fund local and global charitable causes. Organizations seeking to become recipients of a Cabaret for a Cause should apply for consideration. Artful IMPACT seeks to fund organizations that empower individuals and groups to grow stronger. Recipients must be recognized not-for profit corporations or 501c3 organizations. We ask that recipients help by promoting the event, selling tickets, providing volunteers and providing anecdotal evidence of how funds are used.

Building stronger relationships with God through the performing arts
…let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe…
Artful Worship Experience (AWE) is a community of young dancers using their gifts of dance and song to glorify God. AWE is a non-denominational group that welcomes artists who are led to learn more about their personal journey through life with Jesus. AWE dancers are varied in age, level of experience, and technical levels of dance. All dancers aged 5-18, beginning to advanced, are invited to join AWE if they and their parents are committed to the purpose, vision, and weekly requirements of the Artful Worship Experience.
Young dancers aged 5-8 have a weekly session 1.5 hours in length. Older dancers aged 8-18 have a weekly session 2.5 hours in length. During their sessions, dancers will be involved in spiritual growth through small group discussion, Bible study, and/or kinesthetic Scripture memorization, rehearse new pieces of choreography in a variety of styles including tap, hip hop, contemporary, ballet, and musical theatre while strengthening their dance technique. These pieces will be performed throughout the community; dancers will be ministers of the Gospel through the art of dance.
Artful Worship Experience places worship and spiritual growth at the focal center of the artistic experience. We are all equals in God’s eyes, and we are all made in His image. Dancers will strive towards excellence as individuals; this excellence will look different on each dancer depending on his/her specific spiritual gifts. Each and every dancer is celebrated for the unique gift he/she brings to AWE, whether that be in spiritual leadership, technical proficiency, gifts to encourage, challenge, or inspire others, or displaying artistic talents and desires to become a professional in the performing arts.
